This online course introduces Secure Processing Environments (SPEs) within the European Health Data Space framework. It introduces the fundamental principles of SPEs and their importance in data governance and security, then examines the regulatory landscape governing SPEs, including key stakeholder roles and responsibilities in ensuring compliance with the EHDS Regulation, and its associated lifecycle. Finally, it delves into the functions of SPEs and their similarities with Trusted Research Environments (TREs). By the end of this module, you will have a comprehensive understanding of how SPEs support secure data processing, responsible research, and regulatory compliance within the EHDS framework.
