This training course provides an in-depth exploration of open source software, equipping learners with the essential knowledge and skills to use and manage open source projects. The Open Source Software for EU Public Administrations training course includes three modules (Module 1, Module 2 and Module 3) covering fundamentals, governance, and best practices in open source software. While each module can be taken individually, it is recommended to follow the modules in order to build a solid and comprehensive understanding of the subject. Through theoretical knowledge, practical applications, and real-world case studies, participants will develop a strong understanding of key concepts and best practices in the field.

Module 2 explores the governance of Open Source Software, focusing on how open source software projects evolve through their lifecycle. It explains the role of Open Source Programme Offices (OSPOs) and outlines best practices for their operation. The module also addresses strategies for managing and engaging open source communities effectively.The general objectives are the following:
- Understand the lifecycle of open source software projects and their stages,
- Learn the role and best practices of OSPOs in public administrations, and
- Develop strategies for managing and engaging open source communities.
