Regulating emerging technologies has always been a science of its own. Choosing the timing and the overall scope of the regulatory intervention becomes difficult when technologies change rapidly. This session focuses on a recent case, which features most of the problems created by new technologies for policymakers: the proposed regulation on a European approach to Artificial Intelligence, presented by the Commission on 21 April 2021.
