Bulgaria has a number of public holidays throughout the year. In fact, Bulgaria has one of the highest numbers of public holidays in Europe, with a total of 15 official public holidays. Some of the most significant holidays in Bulgaria include:
- New Year's Day - January 1st
- Liberation Day - March 3rd
- Bulgarian Orthodox Easter - varies each year
- Labor Day - May 1st
- St. George's Day - May 6th
- Bulgarian Education and Culture, and Slavonic Literature Day - May 24th
- Unification Day - September 6th
- Independence Day - September 22nd
- Bulgarian Revival Leaders' Day - November 1st
- Christmas Day - December 25th
In addition to these, there are also many cultural festivals and celebrations throughout the year, such as the Kukeri Festival and the Rose Festival, which I wrote about in this article. So, if you are a big fan of holidays and not studying/working days, Bulgaria is a good destination for you!
Do you know how many holidays are there in your country? Try to count them and write them down as a comment. :)
