Hello everyone and Happy Midsummer!

Over this past weekend, there was a celebration that we host every year called Midsummer or as many refer to in Denmark as "Sankt Hans Aften". This tradition usually falls on June 23rd every year and the festivities involve lighting bonfires on beaches or open spaces, where people gather to enjoy the warmth and light. This traditional celebration is to mark the changing of seasons, and the transition from dark days to light and bright ones.

Traditional bonfire speeches and singing are part of the event, often accompanied by the burning of effigies to ward off evil spirits. Making and wearing flower crowns, folk dances like the "Runddans," and live music are popular activities, especially in Copenhagen where the event usually takes place in Frederiksberg park. In some areas, lantern processions with homemade lanterns and singing are also part of the celebration.

Overall, Danish Midsummer celebrations combine ancient pagan traditions, Christian influence, community bonding, and the joy of embracing the summer season. It's a cherished cultural event that allows Danish people to connect with their heritage, enjoy the outdoors, and come together in a spirit of celebration.

I hope you were able to take part in the festivities! Share with us your experience on the forums or in the comments below! Looking forward to hearing from you!
