Perfect & Simple Autumn Recipe: Apple Pockets (EN+SK)

There is a saying that love goes through the stomach. We think the same might apply for a language. We have prepared a simple and tasty recipe that will nourish both your stomach and your brain. Check out this recipe for apple pockets and expand your Slovak cooking and baking vocabulary with it.
Jablkové kapsičky / Apple Pockets
Cesto / Dough:
2,5 hrnčeka polohrubej múky / 2.5 cups semi-coarse flour
0,5 hrnčeka masla / 0,5 cup butter
0,5 hrnčeka cukru / 0,5 cup sugar
0.5 hrnčeka mlieka / 0.5 cup milk
2 vajcia / 2 eggs)
1 čajová lyžička prášku do pečiva / 1 teaspoon baking powder
1 lyžica citrónovej kôry / 1 tablespoon lemon zest
Náplň / Filling:
2 nastrúhané jablká / 2 grated apples
1 lyžica škorice / 1 tablespoon cinnamon
2 lyžice cukru / 2 tablespoons sugar
Na potretie kapsičiek / To Coat the Pockets:
1 vajce / 1 egg

V mise zmiešame všetky ingrediencie na cesto a vypracujeme ho oboma rukami, až kým nebude mať hladký povrch.
In a bowl, mix all the ingredients for the dough and work it with both hands until it is smooth.

Pracovnú plochu posypeme múkou a prenesieme na ňu cesto. Cesto z vrchnej strany posypeme múkou a rozvaľkáme ho na hrúbku približne 0,5 cm. Hrnčekom alebo miskou vykrojíme z cesta kolieska (s polomerom približne 8 cm)
Sprinkle the work surface with flour and transfer the dough to it. Sprinkle the top of the dough with flour and roll it out until it is approximately 0,5 cm thick. Using a cup or bowl, cut out rounds of dough (approx. 8 cm in radius)

Na každé koliesko dáme plnú čajovú lyžičku náplne. Dávame pozor, aby sa náplň nedostala na kraj kolieska, cesto na okraji musí zostať suché. Koliesko zložíme na polovicu a okraje stisneme pevne k sebe.
Put a teaspoon of filling on each dough round. Make sure that the filling does not get on the edge of the round, the dough must remain dry on the edge. Fold the round in half and press the edges firmly together.

Naplnené kapsičky opatrne prenesieme na plech s papierom na pečenie a potrieme ich vajíčkom, ktoré sme si predtým rozmiešali v miske.
Carefully transfer the filled pockets to a baking tray lined with baking paper and brush them with the egg that you have previously beaten in a bowl.

Pečieme na 170 stupňoch približne 20 minút (alebo pokiaľ kapsičky nemajú zlatý povrch).
Bake at 170 degrees for about 20 minutes (or until the pockets are golden).

Po vychladnutí kapsičky posypeme práškovým cukrom.
When the pockets have cooled, sprinkle them with powdered sugar.
