Hello everyone!
Today is the International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development, IVD for short.
This observance was mandated in 1985 by the United Nations General Assembly to encourage volunteerism and recognise the volunteers' contribution to a better world.
This year's theme is the power of collective action: if everyone did. What does it mean? It means that if every person volunteered, we could reach Sustainable Development Goals effectively in no time, making this world a better place. It also means that volunteers are very often the first to help in case of need.
Have you ever worked as a volunteer? I would like to ask each of you to use this day to reflect on how you could help your local community. It doesn't necessarily need to be something big! Remember that even small gestures of kindness help create a better society.
