Hello Everybody!

Beginning a journey abroad becomes all the more enriching when armed with a handful of local phrases, especially as you navigate your new home. In this post, dive into a quick lesson on essential greetings in Danish, gestures that are sure to earn you smiles from the locals.

Greetings Lesson: 

  • Hello – Hej 

  • Goodbye – Forvel

  • Good morning – God Morgen

  • Good afternoon – God Eftermiddag

  • Good evening – God Aften
     

  • My name is … – Mit navn er ...

  • What is your name? – Hvad er dit navn?

  • Nice to meet you – Dejligt at møde dig
     

  • How are you? – Hvordan har du det?

  • I’m fine thank you – Jeg har det fint, tak.
     

  • Please – Vær venlig (no direct translation for please, we use "can you be kind ")

  • Thank you – Tak

  • Excuse me – Undskyld mig
