Treating yourself during these cold and dark winter months is especially important. And, what is a better way to practice self-care than to escape on a weekend getaway? In this blog article, I’ll list some of Sweden’s most amazing Spas where you can recharge your batteries and forget about the cold for a while. Enjoy!

Honulele Spa, Skåne – A tropical oas

You don't have to travel halfway across the globe to enjoy Hawaii's fabled powers and tropical vibes. The spa hotel The Lodge has opened the doors to the 1,000 square meter Honulele Spa, high above the treetops in Skåne on the top of Romeleåsen. The name Honulele comes from the sea turtle, honu, who, according to legend, brought the first Polynesians to Hawaii and then repeatedly helped sailors find their home. A peaceful home is just what they tried to create at Honulele Spa.

Book in Polynesian treatments, open fires, infinity pool, cold wake, and aufguss. Or try "The Aloha Spa Ritual," with a foot bath, washing, and steam sauna. Fresh pokepawn on sahimila or an ice-cold acai will satisfy both cravings and hunger.

Entrance from SEK 545/person.

Yasuragi, Stockholm – A Japanese classic

If you have yet to hear about the Japanese-inspired oasis on the outskirts of Stockholm, it's high time. Since the renovation a couple of years ago, Yasuragi has left little to be desired. Begin the journey in the Japanese ablution room, where the lighting is dim, and the corners are enough for you to relax and let go of the world outside. The Japanese word Yasuragi can be described as a nice exhalation. A sigh. And even today, ablution is used as a meditative tradition to relax.

When you're done washing, an oasis of quiet pools, hot springs out in the pine forest, saunas with ice-cold dips, steam salt saunas, sleeping saunas, lounges with tea and fruit, and Japanese-style meals await you. At Yasuragi, it is easy to forget time and space.

Entrance from SEK 790/person.

Hotel Skansen, Båstad – Where the sky meets the sea

How about toasting the weekend in an infinity pool with unobstructed views of the West Coast's wild seas? Hotel Skansen in Båstad promises total relaxation for anyone who loves the salty winds of the west coast. On two floors, you can enjoy jacuzzi baths, steam saunas, rain showers, and continental lounges. Sink into a divan, order a drink at the bar just a few meters from the pool's edge, and try one of the spa treatments.

The spa package also includes an entrance to the cold bath house, located at the far end of a pier in the sea. Dipping in the blue, followed by a warming sauna, is a powerful experience. Also, don’t forget to take advantage of the 38-degree Japanese pool.

Entrance from SEK 895/person.

Copperhill Mountain Lodge, Åre – Magnificence in the mountains

As soon as you step into the grand lobby of Copperhill Mountain Lodge, you get a sense of the place's history. The massive copper wall and the hotel's name reflect the centuries when copper ore was mined in the area. The high ceiling height and warm choice of materials follow right into the spa department, where panoramic windows reveal majestic mountains. If you're looking for an oasis in scenic Åre, you've come to the right place.

Enjoy the two indoor pools, the outdoor pool, relaxation areas, and various saunas. Book in for a massage or one of the treatments on offer. After a day on the slopes, wanting to be anywhere else is hard.

Entrance from SEK 195/person.

Vida Spa, Sundsvall – Romantic views

Enjoy Norrland's forests, grainy blue sea, and rolling valleys from Södra Stadsberget in Sundsvall. 240 meters above sea level is central Sweden's most beautiful spa, Vida Spa, where Turkish/Roman steam sauna, Japanese washing, Kneipp therapy, pools, and whirlpool are just some of the experiences you can enjoy.

Book yourself for a Spa-Aw with bubbles in the pool and the champagne glass, a famous Night Spa for subdued light, and a DJ playing records until late in the evening or Sunday cosy with an overnight stay. For the restless, Södra Berget's fine Exercise trail is just around the corner.

Entrance from SEK 395/person.

Hotel Kust, Piteå – Modern and close to nature

On the eighth floor of Norrland's Kust Hotell & Spa, you have the best view of the river and forests. Immerse yourself in one of the warm, still pools, outdoors or indoors. An ice-cold spring gets you in an actual Nordic mood, while the rain shower brings thoughts to the tropics.

For the best overall experience, book a luxurious spa ritual where you jump between saunas with different temperature zones and scents, washrooms, and enjoy the spa terrace with a view for miles. Enjoy wraps, creams, and peelings, and finish with a treatment if you want to pamper yourself.

Entrance from SEK 495/person.

Voltage Lounge Spa, Västerås – Hip club atmosphere

The popular Steam Hotel has become the haven everyone is talking about. The 18-story brick building is in a 100-year-old steam power plant that oozes hip industrial romance next to Lake Mälaren's shores. On floor 7, you will find the Voltage Lounge Pool Club – the spa department that has found a nice balance between relaxation and beach club. Enjoy heated outdoor and indoor pools, sauna, and Asian for lunch.

Look out for package deals such as Late Night Voltage with candlelight next to the pools, pulsating music in the bar, and, if you're lucky, starry nights from the outdoor pool. Those looking for more action can go to the Kokpunkten – the adventure pool that is wall to wall.

Entrance from SEK 195/person.

Orbaden Spa & Resort, Hälsingland – Among blue mountains

Between blue mountains and undulating valleys in the heart of Hälsingland lies a spa that, thanks to its environment, is impossible not to like. In the late 20s, people travelled to Ljusnan's clear waters for fresh air and healthy nature. Today, Orbaden Spa & Resort offers precisely this, albeit with a golden edge. Enjoy indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spa treatments, and jacuzzis, and just "let loose" in the great outdoors, as they say in Hälsingland.

Choose a luxury entrance and get a toiletry bag filled with products from Kerstin Florian that you can use with pools and saunas. In addition, there is a range of packages to choose from – everything from Friday cuddles to 3-hour head-to-toe treatments.

Entrance from SEK 495/person.

Upper House Spa, Gothenburg – Digital detox at its height

You get the best spa experience above Gothenburg's rooftops at Upper House Spa. But even from below ground, it's hard not to gawk at the spectacular free-hanging glass-floored outdoor pool that juts out at Gothia Towers. Add a hammam, several pools, energy-boosting yoga sessions, and beautiful saunas spread over three floors; there is little more to be desired from the Upper House Spa.

Mobile phones are banned here – perfect for a digital detox. Come just for the spa, or choose from different spa packages with a yoga lunch, breakfast, or a shrimp sandwich!

Entrance from SEK 595/person.

The Nest, Stockholm – A central oasis with a view

The Nest is the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city for a moment of silence and relaxation. At the top of the Downtown Camper by Scandic is a modern and stripped-down spa area with well-chosen details that convey luxury in its simplicity.

Sink into the outdoor pool and look over the Old Town and Riddarfjärden rooftops. Slip into the spectacular sauna resembling a bird's nest, where birds chirp, reminding you of the tropics. Enjoy dried nuts, fruit, or, why not, a glass of bubbly from the rooftop bar. Don't miss the shower corner with a mist shower where you feel like you're standing in a warm and tropical moisture cloud!

Entrance from SEK 345/person.

Nynäs Havsbad, Nynäshamn – Close to the sea & natural

If you want relaxation in a beautiful sea environment, you should check out Nynäs Havsbad. Enjoy the warm indoor pool or champagne in the quiet relaxation area here. Still, the real thing about Nynäs Havsbad is the jetty. A heated pool and a sauna house with steam, wood-burning, and low-temperature sauna await here – perfect after a dip in the sea or the wake if you prefer it in winter. The mile-long view of the sea is unbeatable. Also, book a treatment with products by Maria Åkerberg. When toes and fingers are shrivelled, you can advantageously book a dinner in the restaurant, and why not a night?

Entrance from SEK 895/person.

Arctic Bath, Harads – Ice bath

Spectacular Arctic Bath is guaranteed to be the talk of the year! The era of timber rafting inspires the circular main building, which resembles a massive bird's nest, floating freely on the Luleälven. You go here for the overall experience – accommodation, food, and experiences in the area. But anyone with a penchant for cold baths, wood-fired saunas, whirlpools, and luxurious treatments will love Arctic Bath a little extra.

Enjoy the expanses, the silence, and the Swedish forests beautifully frame hotel rooms, restaurants, and spas. The Arctic Bath Spa is hard to beat on a freezing winter day.

From SEK 4,200/night, including spa.

Varberg's Coastal Hotel – Sea experience

Sweden's only Thalasso spa at Varberg's coastal hotel is a stone's throw from the sea. Thalasso, you might be wondering? It is a traditional spa therapy that uses marine products such as seawater, seaweed, salt, and mud in treatments and experiences because these contain essential minerals and other healthy benefits for our bodies.

Enjoy heated seawater pools, participate in a sauna ritual in the cold bathhouse where spa therapists use seaweed and salt, or book the "Time is yours" treatment, where deep oil massages, mineral baths, or body scrubs are just some of the experiences you can choose from. A dip in the sea puts your body in a rush before you get back into the heat – summertime on the sun deck, wintertime in the beds in the relaxation area.

Entrance from SEK 549/person.

Hotel Havsbaden, Grisslehamn – Tropics & light therapy

Most people go to Grisslehamn to leave Sweden for Åland. But take the opportunity to stay a day at Hotell Havsbaden for a spa experience among pools, jacuzzi, cold bath, and outdoor pool. How about a light therapy sauna followed by an excellent yoga class? Or go big and book the Velvet Experience – a two-hour trip worldwide with different spa and sauna rituals as inspiration.

Start with tropical rainforest, fish pedicure, facial peeling, steam sauna, salt bath, and washing in the hammam. And no, it's not over yet. The mud wrap makes the skin smooth, and the tropical room waterfall makes time fly by.

Entrance from SEK 395/person.
