Hello everyone!

Today is another special day that I would like to share with you. The 21st of February is observed as the International Mother Language Day to remind us of the world's linguistic and cultural diversity and to celebrate multilingualism. On this day, in 1952 the students at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh organized a demonstration, fighting for the recognition of Bengali language.

In Poland there were several initiatives aiming at raising the language awareness, such as Ojczysty - dodaj do ulubionych, or Język polski jest ą-ę - aimed at defending the Polish diacritics. There are also events aimed at promoting the regional languages, particularly Silesian. Make sure to check them out!

Mothertongue in Polish is "język ojczysty" from the word ojciec - father, how is it in your language? Is it 'of mother' or 'of father'?

Happy Mother Language Day everyone!
