The International Scholarly Conference on Macedonian Language, Literature, and Culture is a cornerstone event in the academic landscape of Slavic studies, offering a platform for scholars, linguists, and cultural enthusiasts to assemble and delve into the landscape of Macedonia's heritage and Macedonian language.

For more than 55 decades, the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje has been at the forefront of fostering intellectual discourse and scholarly pursuits through its revered International Seminar on Macedonian Language, Literature, and Culture. This event has not only facilitated the dissemination of scientific truths and conclusions but has also emphasized the indispensable role of Macedonian studies in the broader context of Slavic language studies.

The allure of the conference lies in its comprehensive program, thoroughly crafted to encompass Macedonian language tutorials, riveting lectures spanning the realms of language, literature, and culture, and immersive sessions with eminent professionals. Attendees have the privilege of engaging with the best Macedonian language lecturers, drawn from the esteemed Faculty of Philology "Blaže Koneski" in Skopje, as well as scholars hailing from renowned scientific and cultural institutions across the Republic of Macedonia.

Last year, the Seminar had a record 70 participants, after the restrictive years of the COVID-19 pandemic, who spoke with joy and enthusiasm about the opportunity to attend the seminar again, or for the first time. All of them are part of the network of foreign Macedonians in the world, which has a huge potential for the affirmation of the Macedonian language and culture.

This year's seminar welcomed an unprecedented number of participants from diverse corners of the globe, with a significant delegation hailing from the People's Republic of China, marking the largest attendance from this region to date. The expansion of Macedonian language teaching in China underscores the growing global interest in Macedonian culture and linguistics.

In addition to participants from the USA, South Korea, Italy, and Turkey, including representatives from Ankara University, this year's seminar saw the inclusion of scholars from Albania and participants from Romania and Ukraine.

Furthermore, the seminar continues to attract participants from countries with longstanding involvement, including France, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, the Russian Federation, and the Czech Republic. Their consistent presence reflects a deep-rooted commitment to fostering scholarly exchange and cultural dialogue within the framework of Macedonian studies.

Undoubtedly, the seminar's venue adds to the allure and charm of this summer gathering. Ohrid, renowned for its breathtaking beauty and rich historical significance, provides an idyllic setting for this intellectual gathering. Nestled beside the serene waters of Lake Ohrid, one of Europe's oldest and deepest lakes, the city emanates an air of timeless grace and cultural grandeur. Often referred to as the "pearl of ancient architecture," Ohrid boasts a wealth of historic and cultural landmarks, including centuries-old churches and monasteries dating back to the Byzantine period. Its winding streets, adorned with ancient buildings, and its impressive collection of over 800 Byzantine-style icons, all stand as a testament to the enduring legacy of Macedonian heritage.

As participants convene to delve into the complexities of the Macedonian language, literature, and culture, they are not merely observers but active participants in a dialogue that transcends borders and bridges cultures.

In the hallowed halls of academia and amidst the cobblestone streets of Ohrid, the International Seminar on Macedonian Language, Literature, and Culture plays a pivotal role in advancing the promotion of the Macedonian language on the world stage. Through its inclusive and collaborative approach, the seminar cultivates a global community of scholars dedicated to the study and celebration of the Macedonian language and culture, ensuring its enduring legacy for generations to come.
