Since I was little, I've loved hand-knitted socks. Every Christmas, my grandmas and aunts gave me some, and I even asked friends to get me a pair for birthdays or other times. Knitting was considered a part of a reputable woman's skill and taught at the public school. The national FInnish school system also taught everyone to knit in the same way.
