If you haven’t heard yet, on September 26th, we will be hosting the second OLS Open Day. This event will be live and dedicated to the European Day of Languages. First of all, we kindly invite you to participate and save the date! Secondly, I would love to hear your stories: What is your mother tongue, and what role have languages played in your life?

I’m Latvian myself, and Latvian is, of course, my mother tongue. However, as a child, I was influenced by two other languages. I grew up surrounded by a lot of Russian-speaking people, and Russian was also the second language taught at school. And then, of course, there was English. After my first exchange program in high school, I realized that English would open up the world to me. That’s when I understood the importance of learning it, and I began to consume any available English content I could find.

At university, while studying translation, I enjoyed being the bridge between Latvian and English speakers, exploring the depths of both languages.

So, what can I say? Languages have not only broadened my worldview but have also shaped the way I think today.

This is why I want to celebrate September 26th—by hearing your stories! I hope you’ll join me for the Open Day webinar.

See you soon,
