Hello, members of the Bulgarian community, but also of the European community!
Each year our large European family enjoys a rich cultural calendar that unites us around common occasions for celebration.
Such an occasion is the European Heritage Days, which in 2024 in Bulgaria is celebrated on September 21 and 22, but it varies in every countries. During these days, Europeans have the unique opportunity to get to know the diverse cultural heritage of the Continent.
Many historical sites, monuments and cultural institutions open their doors to the public, offering free admission to events, guided tours and exhibitions.
The European Heritage Days have been organized since 1985 jointly by the European Union and the Council of Europe. They are one of the European cultural events with the widest participation, with the initiatives providing access to over 20 million people annually. The organization of the events involves a network of regional and local authorities, civic and private groups and thousands of volunteers.
Each year is dedicated to a special theme. Countries can join the common theme of the year. They can organise events based on a local adaptation of the theme or theme of their choice.
These days are a perfect way to discover the wealth of European history, architecture, art and traditions in different countries.
