Kuna igal aastal lisandub maailma sõnaraamatutesse tuhandeid uusi sõnu ja paljud teised vananevad, näib, et sõnastikud on elav ja hingav asi. Mõned sõnad on aegumatud, sajandeid tagasi leiutatud ja tänaseni kasutusel. Teised aga tulevad ja lähevad nagu moetrendid.
Selles arutelus tahaksin kuulda, millistel eesti keele sõnadel, kui üldse, on teie jaoks eriline tähendus. Võib-olla on see esimene sõna, mida te eesti keeles õppisite, või ehk on keegi eriline inimene teile kunagi seda sõna öelnud. Dear Estonian community,
With thousands of new words added to worldwide dictionaries every year and many others becoming obsolete, dictionaries seem to be a living and breathing thing. Some words are timeless, invented centuries ago, and still used today. While others come and go, much like fashion trends.
In this discussion, I’d love to hear what words, if any, in Estonian have a special meaning to you. Maybe it’s the first word you learned in Estonian, or perhaps a special someone said this word to you some time.
