Happy Finnish Independence Day!
Here is a little announcement for Finnish Independence Day on 6th December! As everything else, we Finns do things a little bit differently also with our Independence Day. Forget all the boastful orchestras on the street and fireworks and shenanigans that you might see in other countries. That is definitely not Finland.
Funnily enough, Finnish Independence reception is all about hand-shaking the Presidential couple in their Independence Day reception. And you can watch it on the TV, while snacking on whatever your heart desires. Yes, you heard that right. TV! Now that I have intrigued your curiosity about this funny tradition, please head over to our blog to get more familiar with the tradition and read what it is all about. › Itsenäisyyspäivä: Suomalaisen Juhlan Taika.
And do not forget to tune in to TV at 7 pm. on Friday with your favourite snacks. This way you can be sure you can experience the event first hand!
On December 6, 2024, it is also Sibelius Day, commemorating the life and legacy of Jean Sibelius, a renowned Finnish composer. You can take a closer look at his musical journey and life › on this blog article.
