Let's dive into the topic of culture shock!
You have now spent one semester in Finland, maybe even full year. How have you experienced it? Did you have any kind of culture shock? Although cultures within Europe can seem somewhat similar, there are often more differences than similarities. If you're coming from outside Europe, you might notice even greater contrasts.
Regardless of your background, you may start with a sense of admiration for your new surroundings. However, as time goes on, you might encounter certain issues or differences that leave you feeling puzzled or even annoyed. Did you face any challenges like that? We often refer to this phenomenon as culture shock, but it doesn't necessarily have to be a profound experience. It can simply be anything that makes you wonder or question aspects of life in your new country.
