Hello Everyone!
Living in a new country can be both exciting and challenging, especially when it comes to building a social life. Denmark’s cultural norms and social dynamics might feel different from what you’re used to, and forming connections can sometimes take time. I thought it would be a good idea to have a discussion where we can share experiences and advice. Answer one or any of the following questions in the comment section and let's see where it takes us!
Share Your Experiences:
How did you go about meeting people and making friends in Denmark?
Were there any particular places, activities, or events that helped you build your social circle?
Have you noticed any cultural differences in how friendships are formed and maintained here?
Tips for Others:
What advice would you give to someone who is struggling to connect with others?
Are there specific activities, groups, or strategies that you found helpful?
Ideas to Consider:
Joining local clubs or hobby groups, for example i used to go to this “game cafe” in Copenhagen called Bastard Cafe and I met a lot of people my age over board games.
Socializing with classmates, colleagues, or neighbours.
Overcoming the “small talk” barrier and navigating the reserved nature of Danish culture.
Participating in cultural or community events to meet people in a casual setting.
Using social media or apps to find events or like-minded people.
Let’s discuss what has worked for you and brainstorm ideas for those who might be feeling a little isolated. After all, a strong social network is key to making the most of your time in Denmark!
