In 2025, Europe Day carries special resonance as we mark the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration. Over the past three-quarters of a century, the European project has expanded from six founding members to 27, created a single market, introduced a common currency, fostered academic and cultural exchanges through programmes like Erasmus+, and taken joint action on challenges from climate change to digital transformation. This milestone invites reflection on how far Europe has come—and on the shared values of democracy, human rights, and solidarity that continue to unite its citizens.
Across the Union, Europe Day is celebrated with a wealth of events and open-door activities. EU institutions in Brussels, Strasbourg, and Luxembourg welcome visitors to exhibitions, debates, and concerts; national capitals host cultural festivals highlighting the continent’s diversity; and schools and civic organisations organise workshops on European history and citizenship.
