Today, on May 24th, we celebrate one of Bulgaria’s most cherished holidays — the Day of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Enlightenment and Culture, and of Slavic Script. Across the country, you'll see festive processions, school parades, and cultural events honoring the legacy of Saints Cyril and Methodius — the creators of the Glagolitic script, which laid the foundation for the Cyrillic alphabet used by millions today.
May you always stay curious and thirsty for knowledge. Keep exploring new languages — each one opens the door to a different world and deepens your understanding of humanity.
This special day even has its own anthem. One of its most beloved verses says:
“Go forth, revived people,
To your future bright with glory!
Let with love deep and eternal
Be your path illumined always!”
