What I Wish I Could Ask a Dane

Hej Allesammen,

Have you ever found yourself wondering what everyday life is really like in Denmark? Or maybe you’ve watched a Danish film, heard a song, or learned a strange new word—and thought: “I wish I could ask a Dane about this!”

This week’s discussion is about curiosity and connection. Whether you’ve never been to Denmark or only stayed for a short time, there are always things we wonder about when learning a new culture from the outside. Here's your chance to share your questions—big or small!

If you had 10 minutes to talk to a Danish person, what would you ask them?

Your question could be about:

  • Danish traditions or habits

  • Daily routines (Do people really bike everywhere? What’s a typical Danish lunch?)

  • Social life (Why do Danes love hygge? Are they really that reserved?)

  • Language and expressions (What’s a phrase that only makes sense in Danish?)

  • Personal opinions (What do Danes think about foreigners learning their language?)

You don’t need to know the "right" question—just share something you're genuinely curious about!

Not sure how to start? Try completing this sentence:
“I’ve always wondered why Danes…”
or
“If I met a Dane, I’d ask them…”

Join the conversation by posting your question below. You might even find that others are wondering the same thing—or someone in the community might know the answer!

I look forward to seeing your questions and having an engaging discussion!
