Merħba! Welcome!

Welcome to the Online Language Support forums.

My name is Kurt and I am the Maltese OLS Community Manager. I am glad you have found your way to this platform and that you have chosen Malta as your mobility destination. I'm here to help with any questions regarding the platform, the Maltese language or life in Malta.

Let's have a quick overview of how OLS can support you in your Maltese-learning journey.

What is OLS?

The Online Language Support (OLS), and this community in particular, has been designed to help you improve your knowledge of Maltese while you work, study or volunteer abroad so that you can make the most out of this experience.

The placement test

In order to kickstart this journey, please head to the main page of the Maltese Learning Community and Resources and scroll down to the spotlight section. Here you will find the Maltese Placement Test

Although taking the language assessment may not be compulsory for you, we advise you to complete this in order to receive a recommendation from the platform on the course and learning materials that suit you the most. Once you're done, you can download a PDF of your results or take a screenshot to send it to your university. The certificate will also be available in the "My Achievements" tab on the bottom right of your Dashboard.

As your level of Maltese will improve throughout the year, feel free to take the test as many times as you want.

The forums

Even though the OLS is an online platform, it doesn't mean that you have to learn all by yourself! This is why the Maltese community also gives you access to three different forums.

In the "Ask the Community" forum you will be able to ask all your questions regarding the OLS platform, materials or about the Maltese language in general.

The "Practice your Maltese" forum is a fun place to practice Maltese based on frequent discussion topics or proposals from other learners.

Last but not least, the "Living abroad" forum is dedicated to all the peculiarities of settling in and life in Malta. Feel free to share any tips or ask for advice about the challenges you might be facing. From cultural queries to the ins and outs of your mobility experience, keep in mind the golden rule: sharing is caring!

Come along with us on this learning journey!
Grazzi u saħħa!
