This type of glass is made from a special combination of silica, soda ash, and other materials that give it its unique properties. The most common type of glass for Czech craftsmanship is usually a soda-ash-silica or soda-silica glass.  

This type of glass was created in the 18th century by Bohemian glassmakers who discovered the secret to making sparkling clear glasses. There are many opportunities and career paths, but one of the most popular is working with glass as a material for creating art. Art glass is the manufacturing of glass in colors that are not used in normal industrial processes, usually by skilled artists or studio professionals who enter demand through galleries or other means. Art glass may be used for sculpture, blown into intricate designs with a mold, or cast into molds to create plates, bowls and hollow objects such as vases. It may also be engraved to create wall art such as light boxes and stained to create decorative pieces including glasses and candle holders. Art glass can also refer to stained lead crystal objects such as cups, goblets and such.
