The SEMIC training on Linked Data Event Streams (LDES) for data aggregation explores this Linked Data Publishing Solution, enhancing understanding of its application. SEMIC, the Semantic Interoperability Community, supports semantic interoperability across Europe, ensuring data and metadata retain their meaning across systems. LDES, a technical standard for publishing Linked Data, applies linked data principles to event streaming, enabling sustainable, cost-effective data exchange between silos using domain-specific ontologies for fast and slow data streams. It focuses on replication, synchronization, real-time updates, and improving data usability and findability.
The training includes three chapters and a quiz: the fundamentals of LDES, its role as a data aggregator, and real-world implementations. Linked Data, which uses URIs to identify classes, properties, and relations, fosters a shared understanding and connects data. By addressing challenges like maintaining multiple APIs - costly and requiring frequent updates - LDES provides a generic, flexible base API, ensuring third parties can efficiently synchronize with the latest data versions.
