Objective: Introduce the foundational concepts and policies governing dashboard harmonization at the EEA. This segment ensures that all participants start with a solid understanding of why harmonization is essential and what standards are to be followed.
Components: It includes an explanation of the harmonization need, an overview of the official guidelines, and a discussion on incorporating the EEA's visual identity, which is crucial for maintaining brand consistency across platforms.
Objective: Equip participants with the skills to design dashboards that are not only visually appealing but also tailored to the specific needs of different user groups. This part of the training emphasizes user-centric design, which is key to effective communication.
Components: This includes identifying who the dashboards are for (technical vs. non-technical audiences), how to customize dashboard elements for these audiences, and using storytelling to make complex data more accessible and engaging.
Objective: Provide hands-on experience in using Tableau, a primary tool for dashboard creation at the EEA. This session is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Explain Tableau layouting and the basic Tableau items as used in harmonised dashboards.
Components: Features a live demonstration for creating a dashboard from scratch, which covers everything from layout and styling to the selection of appropriate chart types and integration of interactive elements like filters. Show premade dashboards with issues, to be harmonised.
Objective: Allow participants to apply learned principles and techniques in a controlled, supportive environment. This session is crucial for reinforcing the training content and building confidence.
Components: Participants use sample data sets to create dashboards, applying EEA styling guidelines to ensure consistency and learning effective use of design elements such as color and typography.
Objective: Provide a platform for reflection and feedback, which is essential for continuous improvement and learning validation.
Components: Participants present their work to receive feedback, discuss any challenges encountered, and engage in a Q&A to clarify doubts and expand understanding.
Note: Included in Module 5
Recap the essential skills in dashboard harmonization covered during the training
Highlight how mastering these skills enhances data communication across EEA projects
Motivate participants to actively use their new capabilities in their respective roles
