Understand DG ECHO security system
Identify the security and safety threats and risks inherent to international deployments under the UCPM
List practical tips on personal safety and security
Identify reasonable precautionary measures in order to reduce risks
Recognise potentially dangerous situations
Explain how to react appropriately to threats
Explain how to prepare for departure from a safety and security point of view.
Describe how to behave during the mission according to the specific environment (arrival in the country, security in the Base of Operations, vehicle security, specific behaviour during operations)
Describe how to prepare for unexpected emergencies (such as protests, country evacuation, terrorism, etc.)
Describe how to prepare to react to specific accident and medical emergencies

Attainment of a recommendation to proceed to SEC
Function in civil protection / disaster management system corresponding to the target group
UMI selection criteria for minimum English language level and other UMI criteria that apply to all deployable courses
Completed courses (new Training Programme): UMI
Completed courses (old Training Programme): CMI / TEC / MBC

Training path, upon completion of this course and demonstration of required qualifications:

Equivalence: not applicable

There is a knowledge test at the end of the course, which will be accessible when all modules are completed. The knowledge test consists of 27 questions. There are single-choice and multiple-choice questions as well as allocating tasks. If you answer at least 80% of the questions correctly, you will have successfully completed this Safety and Security Course. You may retake the test as many times as you like.

Successful candidates will be provided with a completion certificate to be send to the National Training Coordinator.
