Disclaimer:
The original version of this course was specifically designed for and offered to eTwinning ambassadors, who were the only participants eligible to receive a certificate upon completion. The current self-paced format, however, is open to all teacher educators with an interest in the topic. While teacher educators from the eTwinning community may find it particularly relevant, any participant who completes the self-paced version of the course will receive a certificate.
How this self-paced course works
Welcome to the course Mastering blended learning in eTwinning teacher training!
Before we start, we would like to highlight the structure and key features of this course to help you plan your learning and successfully complete the course.
This course is based on a version that ran from Monday, 22 September 2025, to Wednesday, 8 October 2025. The original course provided participants with opportunities to interact during a specific active timeframe of 2.5 weeks, exchange ideas and engage in a peer assessment. However, we recognise that not everyone was able to attend during the scheduled timeline.
To make the course accessible to a wider audience, we’ve developed this self-paced format. This version allows you to explore the content and complete the activities at your own pace, whenever it suits you best.
What the self-study format means:
Flexible schedule: You decide when and how to engage with the course materials. There are no deadlines, live sessions, or required meeting times.
Independent learning: While the original course included discussions and peer reviews taking place in certain days and weeks, this format empowers you to work independently, using the same materials and guidance provided during the initial version. Please note that discussions in the forums and contributions on Padlets will not be moderated, allowing for a fully self-directed learning experience.
Self-assessment: To replicate some of the reflective benefits of peer feedback, you will be encouraged to evaluate your own work using the provided assessment criteria.

Laurent Caligaris is a national referent for blended learning in the Magistère Project at the Continuing Education Office of the General Directorate for School Education (DGESCO) within the Ministry of National Education and Youth in Paris, and a training engineer at the Academic School of Continuing Education in Lyon (EAFC).
He holds an academic trainer certification in digital tools for students with disabilities, teaches mathematics and physical sciences, and has also tutored trainee teachers. With extensive expertise in the hybridisation of training programmes and the training of educators, he is on a national mission specifically dedicated to blended learning and e-learning. His responsibilities include designing national training courses, coordinating an online community of academic referents and teacher educators, training project teams from the ministry’s offices, and developing online peer communities, for which he has designed a dedicated Moodle course framework.
Laurent is also involved in the hybridisation of continuing education programmes at EAFC Lyon. His work there includes drafting specifications, training teacher educators, supporting hybrid training projects, coordinating the team of academic referents for hybridisation, and administering the Moodle LMS platform.
Please use English for communication
As participants come from different European countries and speak various languages, we kindly ask everyone to use English as the language of communication during the course. This ensures we all have a common way to interact, share ideas, and collaborate effectively. Thank you for your understanding!
Using AI tools
As a participant in this course, we expect to see your own unique ideas shine through! If you wish, feel free to use AI tools just like you would seek a friend's help – for discussing ideas or proofreading. The key is to keep your thoughts original while acknowledging how AI can enhance your learning journey. However, it is crucial to use AI responsibly and ethically which means that you need to adjust the AI-generated output to ensure the work is yours and suits your context and objectives, rather than merely copying and pasting the AI-generated answer.
Furthermore, if you use AI, it is essential to disclose how it has been used to whoever sees the output, unless the final result is significantly edited and can be considered an entirely new work. Please be aware that if these rules are not followed, the submitted work may count as a case of plagiarism which will result in disqualification from receiving the certificate. Any suspected misuse of AI will be carefully investigated by our team upon which a decision will be reached and communicated to any affected users.
If you have any questions while going through the modules, please feel free to ask other participants on the course forum or get in touch with the technical support.
