How this course works
Welcome to the course AI Odyssey: Discussing AI with students without sounding robotic!
It is really a great pleasure to welcome you in this learning journey and learn together with you for the next two weeks!
Before we start, we would like to highlight the timeline of this course to help you plan your learning and successfully complete the course.
The course is divided into 4 main modules including a final assignment:
- Module 1: What is AI and how smart is it?
- Module 2: AI tools versus reality
- Module 3: Independent thinking, creativity, and intellectual ownership
- Module 4: Final Activity

How to complete this course
- Optional activities. The course offers you optional activities and it is up to you to decide whether to complete them. However, we highly recommend you choose the ones that interest you the most, as this will help you to gain more ideas and successfully complete the final assignment.
- Mandatory activity. At the end of the course, there is a mandatory activity, the final peer assessment. The task entails submitting your work and assessing the work of 3 peers you will be automatically assigned to review. Complete the mandatory activity to receive a certification of course completion. Be mindful of the start dates and deadlines!
We highly recommend you keep a learning diary, meaning a collection of notes, observations, thoughts and other relevant materials built up over the duration of this course.

Behind the course
Course moderator - Toon Vos
Toon Vos is a freelance multimedia journalist and educator fascinated by science and science fiction. He worked as an editor as Are We Europe Magazine and has since branched out to create digital educational materials for the International Debate Education Association (IDEA) and elsewhere. He also volunteers as a dinosaur guide at the Museum of Natural Sciences of Belgium and is currently working on “Curiosity Odyssey”, an online science communication platform for young people.
