Description du cours

This 90-minute e-learning is designed to both introduce and expand participants’ understanding of the Systematic Review (SR) process. The training covers the key steps of the SR process, including: formulating the review question and drafting a protocol, conducting comprehensive and systematic literature searches, study selection, critically appraising the evidence, data extraction and data synthesis.

This structured, accessible, and practical e-learning contributes to EFSA’s commitment to ensuring transparency, consistency, and scientific rigor in its assessments through the application of robust SR methodologies.

Public cible

This e-learning is designed for individuals from diverse scientific backgrounds who are interested in familiarizing themselves with the basic principles of systematic review (SR) methodology. No prior knowledge of SR techniques, statistical testing, or specialised software is required.
While the course is tailored to participants who wish to be introduced to the basic steps of a SR, it may also be of interest for those seeking to expand their understanding.

Objectifs d'apprentissage

The primary learning goal of this eLearning is familiarise participants with the steps of the systematic review (SR) process.
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the key elements involved in formulating a SR question
  • Summarise the core principles and strategies for conducting comprehensive literature searches.
  • Explain the criteria and processes for selecting relevant studies.
  • Describe methods used to critically appraise selected studies.
  • Understand the basic steps in synthesizing and interpreting data.
After completing this e-learning, additional courses are needed to gain the skills required to independently conduct a valid SR and apply SR methodologies.
