Numbers and letters
Do you want to take your Latvian language skills further? Valentīns, a student and cat owner, catches a velotaxi driven by his neighbour Roze. Their conversation will teach you the basics about saying yes and no, singular and plural nouns and the numbers 0 to 5.
Watch this short video to learn how to say the Latvian alphabet, and pronounce the special characters: vowels with a macron (ā, ē, ī, ū), consonants with háček (č, š, ž), and consonants with cedilla (ģ, ķ, ļ). Finally, if you would like to know how to order Latvia's famous grey peas, following along as Valentīns has a discussion with a waiter. Once you're done, take the quiz and test your understanding.
You can change the language of the teaching breaks in the video, and of your EU Academy, to English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, or Latvian in the top right-hand corner of your screen.
