Course details
The objective of the Mechanism Introduction Course
for National Civil Protection and Disaster Management Staff (NAT) is to raise
awareness and increase knowledge of national civil protection and disaster
management actors about the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) and its
functioning, with a focus on the process of requesting and receiving assistance.
In particular, its purpose is
to inform on UCPM activations and activities, to highlight benefits that the UCPM
can bring in case of disaster and to explain how to interact efficiently with
UCPM experts and response capacities.
An optional refresher / Q&A webinar
can be attended after completion of the course (contact your National Training
Coordinator).
Target audience
- Personnel of EU Member States and UCPM Participating States disaster management authorities at all levels (e.g. ministries, armed forces, police, health services, etc.)
- Personnel of disaster management organisations (e.g. NGOs, Red Cross/Red Crescent organisations) from EU Member States and UCPM Participating States
- Personnel of international and regional organisations involved in disaster management
- Civil protection and disaster management personnel from eligible Third Countries
Learning objectives
Upon completion of the course, you will be able to understand the role of the European Union in Disaster Management and the benefits, structure, actors and tools of the UCPM in the field of prevention, preparedness and response, including the main elements of Host Nation Support
