Security Advanced Course - SEC ADV
Course details
The Safety and Security Advanced Course (SEC ADV) aims to provide
participants with the necessary skills and competences to perform in the role
of Safety and Security experts of an European Union Civil Protection Team
(EUCPT) during an international deployment under the UCPM.
Target audience
Member/Participating States civil protection/disaster management experts already trained in ODC Advanced (or equivalent) and experienced at national and international level wishing to deploy internationally in a coordination and assessment position as Safety and Security expert as part of an EUCPT.
Learning objectives
- Describe security reporting templates and formats
- Describe how to select and prioritise information relevant to safety and security briefings
- Describe European Commission, DG ECHO and ERCC security organisation
- Describe the mission’s safety and security environment, identify risks the team may face and describe the team’s vulnerability to those risks
- Describe how to develop strategies to reduce risk and vulnerability, including organisational approaches to risk management
- Describe how to develop and furnish a Security and Safety Plan
- Describe the role of UNDSS (The Department of Safety and Security is a department of the United Nations)
- Describe accommodation needs and associated risks
- Implement and adapt measures for safe travels
