Mionsonraí an chúrsa

No one escapes pain, fear, and suffering. Yet from pain can come wisdom, from fear can come courage, from suffering can come strength – if we have the virtue of resilience.” ― Eric Greitens, Resilience

At some point, everyone experiences varying degrees of setbacks and adversity. The world is changing rapidly, and we all need to adapt quickly to new conditions and challenges and cope with stress.

Do you know people who are able to handle life’s challenges (both major and minor) with greater ease, grow from adversity, and turn potentially negative events into positive ones? Those people have one thing in common – resilience.

In schools, we need resilient students and teachers who have the strength to overcome hardship in their lives, cope with stress in a healthy manner and sustain a high level of motivation and performance. We know that it is possible to develop resilience and this course will help you to understand how we can do it in schools.

As Aristotle said, ‘Man is a social animal”, human beings interact with each other having a deep impact on each other’s life. Relationships are inevitable for building resilience; social competences are important for building good relationships, therefore through this course, we will examine three competences of the Social Area of LifeComp (empathy, communication, collaboration) and their impact on resilience.

The course “Building your students’ resilience through the development of social competences” is the second of the series of courses where we will explore the different areas of LifeComp.

The course will start on 19 September and conclude on 5 October 2022. The estimated workload is 3-4 hours per week.
