Hello Everyone!

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you about the significance of today, May 1st, which is celebrated as International Workers' Day around the world, or Labour Day.

May 1st has a rich history dating back to the 19th century, when workers in many parts of the world fought for better working conditions and fair wages. This day has since been recognized as a symbol of solidarity and unity among workers worldwide.

As you are studying in Denmark or learning Danish, it is important to note that Denmark has a strong tradition of honouring this day. Danish workers celebrate May 1st by attending rallies, parades, and other events to commemorate the struggles of the past and promote workers' rights in the present.

As mobility students, you have the unique opportunity to experience different cultures and learn about the values and traditions of the countries you visit. I encourage you to participate in any May 1st events that may be taking place in your area, and to use this day as an opportunity to learn more about the history of workers' rights in Denmark or wherever you may be at the moment!

Wishing you all a meaningful and enjoyable May 1st.

Alison, OLS Danish Community Manager
