Happy 9th May – Europe Day!

Today all the 27 State Members of the European Union celebrate!

Europe Day is dedicated to peace and unity in Europe and is related to the historic declaration of French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman. With this declaration on May 9, 1950, he proposed the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community, which is the first step towards building what is now the European Union. In his first sentence in his declaration, Schuman says:

'World peace cannot be preserved without constructive efforts proportional to the dangers that threaten it.'

ЕU has a big contribution to the preservation and promotion of peace in Europe. For having achieved this goal, it was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2012. The prize was given for the defense of causes of peace, democracy, and human rights in Europe.

The EU is based on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, and the rule of law, as well as respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities. All these values are common for all the Member states of the Union and it's fundamental for every citizen to respect and protect these values in the name of our better future and unity!
