Too Hot or Too Rainy? Museum Time!
Right, so you've worked hard. You’ve also burnt yourself to a crisp at the beach. You’ve eaten far more than you should have. You’ve partied enough. The weather is far too hot, or too rainy, to allow you to gallivant further, plus you want to discover some of the centuries-old history of this place you temporarily call home.

Fret no more, here is our museum guide to Malta:
1. National Museum of Archaeology, Valletta: This museum displays a wealth of artefacts from Malta's pre-historic and historic past, including the famous 'Sleeping Lady' figurine. You can also explore displays of ancient pottery, coins and sculptures.
2. National War Museum, Valletta: This museum is dedicated to the history of Malta during the two World Wars. It includes displays of uniforms, equipment, documents, photographs and other memorabilia from the two conflicts.
3. Malta Maritime Museum, Birgu: Located in the historic city of Birgu, this museum explores the maritime history of Malta and its people. There are displays of ships and other artefacts from the past, as well as interactive exhibits.
4. Palace Armoury, Valletta: This museum houses an extensive collection of weapons and armour from the 16th to the 19th century. The displays include swords, muskets, cannons and other artefacts.
5. Toy Museum, Valletta: The Toy Museum is a great place to explore Malta's toy-making history. It has a wide range of old and new toys, as well as interactive displays.
6. MUŻA, Valletta: This museum displays a wide range of Maltese and foreign and local art, including paintings, sculptures, prints and photographs.
7. Fort St. Elmo, Valletta: This fort was built by the Knights of St. John in the 16th century and is now a museum that tells the story of Malta's turbulent past. It includes displays of weapons, armour and other artefacts.
8. The Hypogeum, Paola: This ancient underground temple complex dates back to Neolithic times and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It includes a range of artefacts from the prehistoric period.
9. National Museum of Natural History, Mdina: This museum is dedicated to the study of the natural world. It includes displays of local plant and animal species, as well as interactive exhibits.
10. Malta Aviation Museum, Ta' Qali: This museum showcases the aviation history of Malta, with displays of aircraft, helicopters and other artefacts. It’s small but cute.
