Welcome to the second part of our İstanbul trip! 

İstanbul is a city with a rich history and culture, there are many other places to visit in İstanbul as well. These are just a few popular ones. If you have any suggestions for a visit please share with us in the forums. 

Topkapi Palace - Topkapı Sarayı 

 

The Topkapi Palace is a historic palace that was the primary residence of the Ottoman sultans for almost 400 years. It is located in İstanbul, Türkiye, and is now a museum open to the public. The palace complex comprises of several buildings, four courtyards, and many smaller structures. The palace has beautiful ornate decoration, including tile work, frescoes, and intricate wood carvings. Visitors can see many interesting artifacts from the Ottoman period, such as the Imperial Treasury, the sacred Muslim relics, and the Harem section which was reserved for the sultan and his family. The palace also has many beautiful gardens and terraces offering panoramic views of the city. 

 



Galata Tower – Galata Kulesi 

The Galata Tower is a medieval stone tower located in the Galata district of İstanbul, Türkiye. The tower stands at a height of approximately 66 meters and offers a panoramic view of the city. The tower was built in 1348 and served as a watchtower for the Genoese colony in Constantinople. The tower has a cylindrical shape and features a conical roof and a balcony at the top. The tower was used as a fire-watch tower and as a lighthouse in the past. Today, the tower is a popular tourist attraction and offers a great view of the city's skyline, including landmarks such as the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn, and the Hagia Sophia. Visitors can climb to the top of the tower and enjoy the view from the observation deck. 



Dolmabahce Palace - Dolmabahçe Sarayı 

The Dolmabahce Palace is a 19th century palace located in İstanbul, Türkiye. It was built by Ottoman sultan Abdülmecid I as a primary residence and administrative center for the Ottoman Empire. The palace was designed in a Western style, with influences from various European countries, and it features a grand entrance, a ceremonial hall, a throne room, and many ornate rooms decorated with crystal chandeliers and gold leaf. The palace also has a beautiful garden and a shoreline terrace overlooking the Bosphorus strait. It is open to the public as a museum and is a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can see the opulent living quarters of the sultans and their families, as well as the palace's historical and architectural significance. 



İstanbul Archaeological Museum - İstanbul Arkeoloji Müzesi 

 

The İstanbul Archaeological Museums are a group of three museums located in İstanbul, Türkiye. They were established in 1891 and house a vast collection of art and artifacts from ancient civilizations, including the Ottoman Empire and ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt. The museums are made up of three main buildings: the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of the Ancient Orient, and the Museum of Islamic Art. The Archaeological Museum features a large collection of artifacts from ancient civilizations, including the ancient Near East, Greece, Rome, and Egypt. The Museum of the Ancient Orient is dedicated to ancient Mesopotamian, Anatolian, and Persian civilizations. The Museum of Islamic Art features a collection of Islamic art, including ceramics, metalwork, glass, and calligraphy. The museums are considered one of the most important archaeological museums in the world, and it is a must-visit for anyone interested in history and archaeology.




Princes' Islands - Adalar 

The Princes' Islands are a group of nine islands located in the Sea of Marmara, near İstanbul, Türkiye. They are a popular getaway spot for İstanbul residents and visitors alike, known for their natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. The islands are accessible by ferry from the mainland, and cars are not allowed on the islands, making them a perfect place for a relaxing day trip. Visitors can enjoy the scenery by taking a horse-drawn carriage ride, biking, or walking. The Princes' Islands are also home to many historic buildings, such as the 19th century wooden houses, and the monasteries and churches from Byzantine period. There are also several beaches where visitors can swim and sunbathe. Additionally, the islands are also known for their delicious seafood restaurants and traditional ice cream shops.
