Fjaka- The Dalmatian Art of Being Lazy, but in a Good Way

Fjaka is an Italian word adopted in the Croatian language long ago that refers to a state of relaxation and enjoyment that is often experienced by tourists and locals alike on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia. It is a feeling of contentment and peace that is often accompanied by a sense of calm and a desire to do nothing but relax and enjoy the moment. It is a sublime state in which one aspires for nothing and is often associated with the laid-back and easygoing lifestyle that is typical of the Croatian coast. It is a way of life that is characterized by a love of leisure and a desire to enjoy the simple pleasures in life (somehow like Hygge in Scandinavia but much less elaborated). Fjaka can be spending time with family and friends, enjoying the beauty of nature, and savoring the delicious food and drink of the region, as well as sleeping a short siesta or not doing anything at all.

As well, it is also an important part of the coastal Croatian culture, and it is a way of life that is deeply rooted in the country's history and traditions. The Croatian coast has long been a popular vacation destination, and the laid-back and relaxed atmosphere that characterizes the region is an important part of its appeal. Fjaka is often experienced in the small towns and villages that dot the Croatian coast, where the pace of life is slow and the focus is on enjoying the simple life there is. It is a way of life that is centered around spending time with loved ones, enjoying the beauty of the natural surroundings, and savoring the delicious food and drink of the region.

• Fjaka isoften experienced in the summer months when the weather is very hot and sunny, and people flock to the Croatian coast to enjoy the beach and the sea. It is a time when people take it easy and relax, enjoying not having to worry about the everyday workload.
• Fjaka isnot just about relaxation, but it is also about enjoying the beauty of the natural surroundings and the rich cultural traditions of the region. The Croatian coast is home to several small towns and villages that are rich in history and culture, and exploring these places is an important part of thefjakaexperience.
• Fjakaisalso about enjoying the delicious food and drink of the region. Croatian cuisine is known for its seafood, meats, and fresh vegetables, and the region is home to several wineries that produce high-quality wines. We remind you, if you eat in a fjaka kind of way, it has to be done slowly, enjoying every bite.

• Fjaka isnot just experienced by tourists, but it is a way of life for many locals. Many people who live on the Croatian coast adopt a laid-back and easygoing lifestyle, and they take full advantage of the region's natural beauty and cultural traditions. When in Dalmatia, don't expect a fast reaction, a true local will tell you 'Pomalo' (meaning 'easy' or 'there is time for everything'). Go with the flow and try to practice the slow life pace.

• Fjakaisnot just a feeling, but it is also a state of mind. It is a way of embracing the present moment and letting go of stress and worries. It is a way of finding joy and contentment in the simple things in life.

So these are the tips to try it:

1. Slow down: One of the key elements offjakais taking it easy and slowing down the pace of life. Try to focus on the present moment and let go of any stress or worries that you may have. In the end, not all things are important, especially on vacations.
2. Connect with nature: Spending time in nature can be a great way to relax. Take a walk in the woods or a park, go for a hike, or spend time by the beach oralake.
3. Spend time with loved ones: Fjaka is about enjoying the company of others, so try to make time for your family and friends. Whether you are having a barbecue, going for a picnic, or just spending time together, it's important to make connections with the people you care about. While doing it, please disconnect, this is meant to be an offline life.
4. Try new things: Fjaka is about embracing new experiences and trying new things. Whether it's trying a new hobby, exploring a new place, or trying a new type of food, it's important to keep an open mind and be willing to try new things.
5. Take care of yourself: Fjaka is about finding time and balance, taking care of yourself. Make sure you are getting enough rest, eating well, and taking time for self-care. Everything can wait.

 Sounds good , right? :)
