Yes, we just had a public holiday 5 July (read here) and there is another important anniversary, which became a public holiday right the day after.

The 6th of July, Jan Hus Day is a significant occasion that commemorates the life and contributions of an important figure in the history of reformation. Jan Hus, a Czech theologian and philosopher, played a pivotal role in challenging the authority of the church during the 15th century. His ideas and teachings not only questioned the practices of the church but also sparked a movement that would ultimately shape religious beliefs and practices for generations to come.

On this day,  6 July, we honor Jan Hus for his courage and unwavering commitment to his beliefs. His steadfastness in speaking out against corruption within the church serves as an inspiration for those who strive for truth and justice. Jan Hus Day is an opportunity to reflect on his legacy and acknowledge his impact on shaping religious thought.

As we observe Jan Hus Day, let us remember the importance of questioning established norms and standing up for what we believe in. It is through individuals like Jan Hus that progress is made, institutions are reformed, and society moves forward towards a more inclusive and enlightened future.
