Hi, everyone!

Moving to a new country can be exciting, but also quite daunting. New culture, language, food - so many new things at once!

This post is an invitation to share the tips and tricks you learned while living or traveling in a new country. It's also an opportunity to ask questions - whether you're an experienced mobility student or new to the program.

Some questions to get the conversation started:

What advice would you give to someone moving to a new country for the first time? Or, maybe living in a new country taught you something about yourself. How did you make friends? Share with us!

Thanks, everyone.

Hey Bashir!

I am Can from Turkey.

I could suggest that before starting your journey to a new country, you should learn the culture, environment and activities of around the place where you will go first.

Let me know if you have any questions in mind ?

I might also ask you some questions that I wonder.

Hi Moamen!

A great way to get started is by taking the English placement test. Once you take the test and know your results, you may begin taking English language courses. We have levels A1 - B2.

Here is the link for the test: https://academy.europa.eu/local/euacademy/pages/course/assessment-overview.php?title=english-placement-test

Click the "START ASSESSMENT" button.

You can take the test as many times as you wish.

AFTER THE TEST

Once the test is finished, here's how to find the grade:

1. Go to English Placement Test

2. Click: Start Assessment

3. Scroll down to: Summary of your previous attempts.

4. There the student should see their finished exam and if they go to the right, they'll see the word, "Review."

5. Click: Review

6. This will bring them back to their exam results.

7. On the right side of the screen, under "Quiz Navigation," Click: Finish Review

8. The student will be taken to their Assessment Results.

We are working hard to allow you to download a pdf with the results of your language assessment. In the meantime, as a temporary solution, please take a screenshot of your results page.

Also, please know that the developers are working on ways to streamline this feature so that it's easier for learners to find their grades.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SPEAK IN ENGLISH: OLS Live!

We will also have live online sessions for us to talk with each other. In this way, everyone has more can practice their English and learn together. Go to this link if you would like to share your ideas about topics we can talk about: https://academy.europa.eu/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=1665

GO TO MOBILITY-SPONSORED EVENTS

And finally, be sure to participate in as many in-person, mobility-sponsored events in your city! The more you meet and speak with other mobility participants, the faster you'll improve!

Thank you again for writing your comment and please let me know if I, or the community, can help you with anything else!

Hi! My name is Mario and I have been living in Vienna for more than 2 months. I think is a very lovely city with a lot of places to see and discover (and also, I really love the fact that Vienna is just in the middle of Europe and you can travel anywhere ^^). If you are thinking of coming here, you will discover the most liveable city in the world, but on the other hand, as a spanish person, I'm still trying to adapt my schedule to the lunch/dinner time here (I know, in Spain we eat late haha)

Ahhhh, Vienna, the city of renowned musical heritage. Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn - some of history's classical music heavyweights all hailed from there. I've never been to this city and know very little about it. Take us on a tour and show us why it's lovely. :D
