Buenos días ☀️
Today, July 23rd, the Spanish people are called to the polls for the elections to the General Courts (the Spanish Parliament). In this key democratic process, we will have the opportunity to elect our representatives both in the Congress of Deputies and in the Senate, the two chambers that make up the General Courts, both located in Madrid. The Congress of Deputies is the chamber with the most legislative power and plays a fundamental role in the elaboration and approval of laws. On the other hand, the Senate acts as an assembly of territorial representation, ensuring the adequate presence of the different autonomous communities in the legislative process.
It is important to note that in these elections we do not directly elect the President of the Government but our representatives, who, in turn, will have the responsibility of choosing the President in the Congress of Deputies, the most important chamber.
Polling stations will be open from 09:00 to 20:00 ⏰, when the official vote count will begin. We encourage you to follow the election results live, as it is interesting to witness as a foreigner. You can do it HERE.
That's all, friends. I'm off to vote :-)
