We have recently published a blog post about the Estonian Youth Song and Dance Festival that took place this summer. Since the song festivals are attracting increasingly larger numbers of participants and spectators, the city and organizers are taking extra measures to ensure the large scale events are as environmentally friendly as possible. After all, the song festivals take place in Tallinn, which is the 2023 European Green Capital!

One of the largest steps they took was banning the use of single use plastics during the festival. It was not easy, but it is necessary to keep in line with the theme of the festival, which is "The land is sacred".

Have a look at the environmentally friendly practices here: https://2023.laulupidu.ee/hoiame-loodust/

You can translate the page with your browser, since this page is not available on the English version of the website. Or, you can try to learn a bit of environmentally friendly vocabulary and read it in Estonian!
