NEW SERIES: MY LANGUAGE LEARNING JOURNEY

We have some great news in the English Community:  we’re launching a new series called, “My Language Learning Journey!”

The concept is that I will interview you and we’ll talk about your language learning journey and your mobility experience.

After our exchange, I’ll publish our conversation in our Blogs section where all of our community members can read and ask questions or share comments. Perhaps others may have some things in common with you!

The published format of our interview will be mainly written, but if there are videos or pictures you wish to share, that’s great too. You will just need to give us a signed authorization to use your photos or videos.

The interviews are short and fun and are a great way for us to get to know each other – whether you’ve finished your mobility, are just getting started, or have been in your program for a while; this invitation is for YOU. :D

Take a look at some example questions so that you have an idea of what’s to come:

(Please note: the questions will be adapted to your particular situation, so don’t worry if the questions are in present or past tense.)

PART 1 - INTRODUCTION OR PRESENTATION OF YOURSELF

  • Introduce & talk a little bit about yourself.   (e.g. What is your name? Where are you from? How old are you? What do you study or what have you studied? What is or was your career?)

  • Where is your mobility? How and why did you choose this place to go?

  • What language are you studying and why is it important for you to learn languages?

PART 2 - LANGUAGE LEARNING EXPERIENCE

  • Tell us about your experience getting used to the language. (What was your level before and after the mobility? Did the mobility/volunteering/internship help you to improve? What was the language you used on a daily basis?)

  • What advice would you give to someone who is starting to learn a new language?

  • Tell us how OLS helps you to improve your language level.

  • What do you think about the OLS platform? Do you think it is useful, do you advise mobility participants to use the community?

PART 3 - MOBILITY EXPERIENCE

  • Was this your first experience abroad? How long did you stay there?

  • How was your mobility experience? (e.g. What did you like the most? Anything that surprised you? Anything you didn't like? What places or experiences would you recommend?)

  • Is there any advice you would like to give to someone preparing to go on mobility? (e.g. Would you recommend someone doing a mobility program and what do you think are the main challenges?)

  • How did the mobility/volunteering/internship help you to grow?

And that’s basically it! Pretty easy, right? :D Those are the questions but, you are invited to share other thoughts during the interview.

NEXT STEPS?

Once our interview is complete, this is what the title will look like:

My Language Learning Journey: [INSERT YOUR NAME HERE!]

Will YOUR name be the next one? :D

Keep a look out for an invitation in your inbox. But don’t wait to be invited! You can send a message to me to let me know you’d like to share your Language Learning Journey with us or sign up here if interested!

I’m looking forward to our conversation!
