Hi friends!
This Friday, the entirety of the Republic of Ireland will be celebrating Culture Night.
"Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir is a national moment, celebrating culture, creativity, and the arts and seeks to actively promote the belief that this rich and varied culture is alive, treasured and nurtured in people’s lives, today and every day. It is delivered nationwide in cities, towns, villages and rural locations as well as online." So don't worry if you're not in Ireland, you can still participate online!
And if you
see a ton of things you'd like to see and do, don't worry about breaking the
bank. All events are free of charge. So whether you're in a big city or in a
rural part of Ireland, grab the schedule and make a
list of the places you'd to go.
Here are a
few that have already piqued my interest.
CORK CITY:
Sky Culture at Blackrock
Castle Observatory - learn about how science
and astronomy are integral parts of Irish culture. Make art, go on a tour of
the 16th-century castle, and get a guided tour of the night sky.
KINSALE:
Learn about Anne Bonny, one of Ireland's most feared (and beloved!) pirates.
GALWAY CITY:
If you're
feeling like collaborating with others and making public art, join the Street Art Collaboration
that will celebrate Galway's vibrancy while bringing a bit of color and life to
their skatepark.
DINGLE:
Immerse yourself in the beautiful Irish language by attending Aisteóirí Bhréanainn sa Díseart, two short comedy plays that are suitable for all ages.
Those are just a few of the events that look pretty amazing to me. What about you? Does anything catch your eye?
