Dear community members,
Hope you are doing great!
Just yesterday, during the 45th Session of the World Heritage Committee in Saudi Arabia, Kaunas Modernist Architecture Bid "Modern Kaunas: the Architecture of Optimism, 1919-1939".has been approved! This means, that from now on, Lithuania has one more UNESCO site, and this one is very well worth visiting!
Some of the notable examples of modernist architecture in Kaunas include:
- Office of the Bank of Lithuania
- Central Post Office
- Christ’s Resurrection Church in Kaunas
In total, there are more than 1500 buildings of interwar period around Kaunas!
Did you already have a chance to check the historical landmarks of this city? Or maybe you have notice some interesting architecture in other parts of the country? Let's talk about this in Living Abroad forum!
Yours,
Gytis
