If you've arrived in Portugal without knowing anyone here, and if you'd like to practice the Portuguese language with a local student, today I'm introducing a very interesting project. You can pair up with a friend and a Portuguese language tutor. Isn't that amazing?

What is the Buddy Program?
ESN (Erasmus Student Network) created the Buddy Program, where it's possible to pair incoming students with students who have lived in Portugal for a while.
Do you want to be part of this program and meet a local student/buddy?
Are you an incoming student looking for someone to help you around the city? Maybe you have questions concerning the university, transport, or something else entirely. Or what if you just want someone to tell you where are the best spots in town? If that's the case, this program is for you!
How can you join?
- Click HERE and download the app [Papaya (ESN) on Google Play or App Store]
- Sign up with Google
- Fill out the information about you
- If you are coming to Portugal, click on the Buddy Program and choose "I need help"
- Finally "Save my subscription"
You'll receive a notification when paired with your buddy and we'll give you their contact information so you can get in touch with each other. Don't be shy and send them a message!
ESN volunteers will match you with another student from the same university as you or the same city
→ Also, explore your university's integration program. Many student associations offer buddy programs for international students.
