Do you know Slovakia has more than 15 000 km of marked trails? If you open the map, you can see that there is a trail starting from almost every village and town. You don’t need to be a keen hiker to start exploring them. However, it is definitely good to know the Slovak trail marks. Do you want to hit the trails but you don’t know where to get a map? You can type “turisticka mapa” (hiking map) to your search engine and it will recommend several pages with online hiking maps where you can plan your next adventures. Also, you can get a paper map for a particular area/mountain range in many bookshops. Or download a map app for hiking.
Here’s a small call to action: try to plan an adventure for next weekend! Open the map, explore the trails and plan a trip in your surroundings or somewhere further. Try to search for interesting viewpoints or other things that might interest you (castle ruins).
