Hi friends!

Have you ever had one of those days when you just couldn't find the energy to get motivated?

I remember there was a day when I really needed to finish a very big project. I tried so many things to motivate myself- I called friends for advice, I watered my plants, I did a little meditation, but nothing worked. None of those things really got the blood moving, you know what I mean? I really needed something that would shake me up.

Then, boom! I remembered this band I saw in concert once where I danced like my life depended on it! Hahaha!! I just couldn't help it! The music was THAT good!

I figured if they could do that to me during a concert; surely they can help me find the motivation I needed for my project. I jumped up, got my speakers, hooked up their album, and blasted the music until the walls rattled. (Sorry, neighbors. :D)

Guys, can I just tell you: I was INSTANTLY changed! Dancing wildly and freely was just what I needed to get that blood really moving. Then, *poof!* like magic, I finished my project.

The life-saving band is called BCUC and the album's name is, "The Healing." (perfect name, right?!)

But, what about you? How does music help you? Tell us who you really enjoy and why. What songs do you just love, love, looooove? Maybe there's music that helps you to calm down or focus? Whatever it is, we want to know!

Musically yours,

Iya

Hi Iya :)

I just listened to this album, The Healing and it is amazing, it really brings joy and good vibration to me, it made my mood lift. I am always looking for more and more good music, so thank you :)

I love music! I experience it has a healing power. I like melancholic, sad songs and genres of music, but a few month ago I conciously started to listen to music that soothes me, calms my nerves. I started to listen to medicine music, Nessi Gomes for example, I also found the band Curawaka, who - besides making beautiful music - are activists as well and had an initiative for clean water. I also love the band Kokoroko, especially two songs, Abusey Junction and Something's Going On. But I really love so many kinds, lo-fi, soul, reggea, hip-hop, psytrance etc. :)

Want to hear something totally wild??! I JUST saw BCUC this past Sunday at a concert in Montpellier, France!! I'm so glad you enjoyed The Healing. :D They sang some of the songs off of that album.

If you ever get a chance to see them in person, I highly recommend it! The energy of everyone- from the musicians to all of us dancing in the audience - was so positive. Also, being there reconfirmed that their music is not the kind one can just stand around and bop one's head to. The whole body MUST get involved. Hahahaha!!

It's funny you should mention, "psytrance" because though I don't know that kind of music (yet!); at the end of the BCUC show when some of us were talking to the lead singer, Jovi; one of the fans said that he felt he was in a trance. Good music can really feed the soul and transport us.

I know what you mean about liking melancholic and sad songs. I adore it myself and can listen to it for hours and hours - and days, really! Hahaha! Mozart's Lacrimosa is one of my go-to songs. I like when music feels like a person or presence is in the room with whom I am having a non-verbal conversation.

Thank you for sharing some of your favorite, nerve-calming music, too. Thanks to your suggestions; I'm now on a new musical journey of discovery. :) So far I totally adore this from Curawaka and their positive expressions like, "May the wings of your heart set you free."

I agree with you about music being a healing power. Have you heard this by Peia? I just discovered it after listening to Curawaka. Magical how way leads on to way. :)

Have you been to a concert by any of your favorite medicine musicians?

Hello!!

This is my first time writing on an online forum. I have never been really attracted by it. But, I immediately clicked on this one because I LOVE listening to music, finding new artists and dancing to my favourite songs.

My most-streamed singer of all time is Taylor Swift. I love all her albums and I enjoy the sensation of listening to her new music when it drops.
This past couple of months, however, I have played less songs of Taylor than usual because I am currently obsessed -and I'll probably always be obsessed with from now on- with an amazing, outstanding, marvellous artist. That is, the one and only, Mitski :)
I can't stop listening to her last album, Laurel Hell (released early this year, I think). I really really really recommend it!!!! It has great lyrics (similar to Phoebe Bridgers) accompanied by melodies you can dance to!
If you finally decide to listen to it -something I hope you do-, I suggest you do it at night. A nocturnal environment greatly enhances the album :)

Woooow! You’re totally right about Mitski! I had never heard of her until now. So far I’m really into the songs “Washing Machine Heart” and “Nobody.” :)

Thanks, Ada!

PS: you’re 100% right about listening to her at night. It’s kind of ethereal. :D

Music can give me the motivation and strength I need for the day and take me on an emotional rollercoaster ride and i just love listening to music at every possible opportunity :D

I absolutely adore the album without a name (commonly known as Led Zeppelin IV), because it is one of the most varied and best albums of all time and I just love every aspect of it.

Another recommendation would be Sonny Rollins album Saxophone Colossus, which always, for whatever reason, puts me in the christmas mood, especially the song Moritat!

Ok! You've convinced me, Tom!

I've heard of the band Led Zepplin for years and years, but don't know a single song of theirs. I hope that doesn't send you running for the hills!

Now, I shall endeavor to find this unnamed album you speak of and take a listen. My days are always full of unpredictable adventures and now I can add musical quests to the list, so thank you!

Good afternoon, everyone.
Well, my favorite music is romantic and slowly, especially music from the 90's on English and Spanish. I think always is good to pause our life because everything goes to fast, and this kind of music always help me.

Aaah, I understand what you mean, Alexander! Sometimes good music can help us to slow down and enjoy life a bit more.

Who are some of your favorite musical artists from the 90's?

Hi everyone!
So I think that my favorite type of music is R&B and HipHop music. You can tell because my favorite artist is The Weeknd. I literally fly high when I blust his music in my headphones. I also love other artists like: Drake, J.Cole, 21 Savage, Asap Rocky, Eminem, Niki Minaj, Rihanna. Their music makes me really feel energic, confident. Is a boost for me.
Then there is One Direction. They are my comfort artists because I listen to them since I was 5. I grew up being a directioner and they will always belong to my heart. I'm about to turn 18 and on my birthday cake there will be their picture :)
And finally, I love Jazz. This type of music is the one that I put on when I have to study, to read or when I need to relax. One of my biggest dream is to go to a Jazz bar on a Saturday night with my friends, talking all night and dance to jazz melodies.
Thank you so much, it was fun sharing with you.

Hi Aurora, love the fact that you'll have a One Direction birthday cake haha! I'd love to see a photo of it! My old roommate and I also blasted that band often while cooking :-)

As a side note, I edited the mention of alcohol out of your post because it's against the guidelines that were set for these forums. People of all cultures and diverse ages are on this forum, so we have to mindful of that :-)

Hello
I love music as far as it brings emotion to my soul.
I do not care much about who is playng but I am interrested on what he is playng and why...
Music can and must be for different taste and people but most important thing is must be emotional

otherwhise it is not music but a load of soud

I hope you all agree

Take care
Amina
