This Saturday, November 11th, people all around Latvia will be celebrating the Day of Lāčplēsis. If you don't know who he is and why we celebrate this day, don't worry; we have a blog post explaining everything you need to know about this day and why Lāčplēsis is an important figure in Latvian culture.
The celebration on November 11th will take place throughout Latvia, so be aware - there will be many fire torches and people on the streets. The festivities will include a torch procession, concerts, and other activities dedicated to Latvian freedom fighters. If you are in Riga, you will probably see candlelight in the windows, especially near the President's castle. I encourage you to join the activities and take a walk through the city center on Saturday afternoon.
