Dear community,

New Year's Eve in Hungary is associated with traditions and beliefs. Their goal is to conjure up health and abundance for the new year and drive away bad luck and harmful spirits.

On the last day of the year, as with all holidays, food plays an important role. In Hungary, roast pork is most often served on the table, as it brings good luck, but nowadays it has been replaced by hot dogs. According to tradition, you should not eat chicken or turkey, because it will spoil your luck, and it is important to eat whole grains, because thanks to this, you can expect a lot of money in the new year. Lentils are typically such a dish, which is cooked in almost every Hungarian home on New Year's Eve.

A feature of the last day of the year known around the world is that almost everyone makes a vow. It is worth making a promise that you will keep at least on the first day of the new year, so that the promises will not be wasted.

What are your vows for the new year? How will you celebrate you NYE in Hungary?

I look forward to seeing your answers! Good luck! And Happy New Year!

Warm wishes,
